Announcements for February 22-28

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

From the Rubrics Book for the Sunday of Meatfare (Farewell-to-meat / Sunday of the Last Judgment): “After this Sunday, no more meat is eaten until the Sunday of Pascha, but otherwise there is no fasting this week, so that eggs, cheese, butter, milk and fish are permitted each day including Wednesday and Friday.”

Please consider  a regular (i.e., repeated) read-through of Matthew 25:31-46 (especially 31-40) during the weeks of Great Lent.  In addition to your Lenten discipline of fasting and abstinence, prayer and attendance at church, tithing and alms-giving — please add the following works of mercy and charity: food and drink for the hungry and thirsty, welcome to the stranger, clothing for the needy, visiting the shut-ins — all of whom might be as near-by to you as someone in your household or classroom or office or neighborhood.  Our fasting, abstinence, prayer, church attendance, tithing and alms-giving help discipline and prepare us so that (receptive to His grace) we can enact the ethical imperative given us by the Savior.

Please note the monthly calendar on the Website (the link is above).  Divine Services and activities have been posted through Pascha.  (These are subject to change and revision as needed.)  There are some changes from the usual schedule of years past.  Annoucnements week-by-week will be available in the Sunday Bulletins as well as here on the homepage of our parish website.  Additionally, we will have a limited number of printed, hard copies of the monthly calendar available for those who do not have internet access.
